Free-range farming in summer measures for the welfare of our poultry
Free-range farming in summer brings special challenges. At Nature & Respect, our chickens enjoy the warm season with plenty of space for scratching and pecking, but high temperatures can affect their health. Various measures are necessary to ensure the well-being of the animals.
Regular checks by specialist staff ensure optimum climate control in the barn. Efficient ventilation systems ensure good air quality and regulate the temperature. An adequate supply of fresh water is essential, which is why the chickens have constant access to drinking water that has been tested by specialist laboratories. In addition, shady outdoor areas with meadows, trees and hedges provide protection from direct sunlight. An adapted diet and a well thought-out barn and run design keep the chickens healthy and active even in the hot months.
If free-range, then with respect!
